Work one-on-one with a bestselling author who knows how to edit and has the heart of a teacher. I’ve self-published 18 books, have over 13 years of experience in the industry, and a passion for helping new (or old) writers. 

 

So what is this anyway?

I’m a book shepherd, in a way. Anywhere the book – or the author – needs help, I assist. Some projects require a little guidance and that’s all. Others need a lot of hand holding, a deep developmental edit, structural reorganization, formatting, keywords, the works.

We start by having a conversation about your book and your publishing goals. Then you send me the first part of your book, I assess the manuscript and make notes (usually a LOT of notes), you see if my feedback is helpful to you, we discuss and go from there.

If we decide we are a good fit (it’s a close working relationship, so the fit really matters), I draw up a detailed proposal and if you agree, we start working together. 

I can help if:

  • You have a completed manuscript and don’t know what to do next
  • You are self-publishing for the first time and want a little (or a lot) of guidance 
  • You have started a story but have no idea how to write an entire book
  • You have a great idea, but don’t know how to start
  • You are stuck in your manuscript and need to get over the hump
  • Your manuscript is pretty good, but the dialog needs punching up, or the descriptions aren’t quite there yet, or something just feels off
  • You need help with world building
  • You’re struggling with finding time to write
  • You’re getting in your own way 
  • You could use a little help with technical things like Word or Atticus and setting up retailers like KDP and D2D
  • You have a few specific questions you want answered and just want to talk to someone who knows the business
  • You don’t write horror or violent gore (sorry, I can’t handle it!)
  • You write fiction or your nonfiction is in the style of a memoir (I have someone GREAT to help with business and self-help books if you want a referral)
  • Pretty much anything to do with writing and publishing
